22 May 2008 "Resourcing Family Work"
Led by Richard Hardy from Care for the Family, the
meeting will take place in the Woodlands Crypt and will run
from 12:30 to 2:30 pm.

This semiar will be of interest to all involved in family
work and will be an opportunity to network and ask questions
of other organisations working in the Bristol area.

This event will run on two dates:
- Tuesday 10 June, 9.15am - 12.30: Trinity College, Stoke Hill, Bristol, BS9 1JP
- Saturday 21 June 9.15am - 12.30: The Crypt, Christ Church Clifton
Cost £5 to cover expenses.
Run by David Maggs (Churches Council for Industry
and Social Responsibility) and Caroline Virgo (Hopes Place).
Community mission is the active involvement of Christians
in their communities, living God's Kingdom through addressing
the needs around us. There are already many community action
initiatives in Bristol but the potential exists both for more
and for better linking of those that there are. These mornings
will look at what is necessary to set up a social action project
within a Christian framework. They will also provide an opportunity
for those already engaged in social action ventures to reflect on
their activities and to network with other organisations.

10.15 - 11.00 Understanding your community and its needs -
a practical session looking at the techniques of community survey
and the design of a social action project, potential partners

10 July 2008 "Getting Men to come to Church"
Led by Glynn Harrison, a Lay Minister at Christ Church, Clifton
and a Professor of Psychiatry at Bristol University.
CET and BCAN invite all Church Leaders, homegroup, activity &
Christian organisation leaders to a co-sponsored Leaders' Seminar on
Thursday 10 July, 10:30 am - 1:00 pm about reaching men. 'Adam where
art thou: getting men to come to Church'.
The seminar will be at Woodlands, Belgrave Rd, BS8 2AA (near Clifton
Down shopping centre car park). It will be a fascinating and
stimulating seminar for men and women from many different churches.
The cost is £5 (includes coffee) payable on the door. Please

Glynn is a Lay Minister at Christ Church, Clifton a Professor of
Psychiatry at Bristol University and a practising clinician. He has
developed both an academic and a practical interest in the concept
of 'masculine spirituality', and has spoken at various men's events
and seminars. He will overview the challenging research data on
men's involvement in Christian Churches and share some ideas on one
of the most critical issues facing Churches today.
23 October 2008 "Surviving the Credit Crunch" (Cancelled)

6 November 2008 "Every Person Matters: Re-imagining Church" with Steve Chalke
This is being run in association with the George Muller Foundation. The event is
free to the Muller Partnership churches. For everyone else, the cost will be £5,

15 November 2008 "Mental Health and Spirituality"
The key-note speaker is Professor Glynn Harrison.
The event will run from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm at St Mary's, Shirehampton.
The cost will be £25, which includes a lunch.
