Introduction

These meetings are all held at Trinity Tabernacle, Hassell Drive, Lawrence Hill, Bristol.  Unless otherwise indicated, they start at 12 noon with coffee (bring your own lunch) and end at 2 pm.

16 October 2003 "The Local Church and Mental Health Issues"

Rev Michael Bellfield, the Chaplain of Barrow Hospital will be speaking.

10 July 2003 "Working With Older People"

This meeting had to be postponed due to the unforeseen unavailability of the speaker.

22 May 2003 "A Difficult Welcome? - Offenders and the Local Church"

BCAN conference 10 am – 1 pm

A half-day conference for church leaders and others interested in working with offenders in a church context.

The first session will have a preventative focus and will hear experiences of working with ‘at risk’ people and give advice to churches on what they can do. The second session will look at an ‘after prison’ focus including integrating offenders into the church and helping to prevent re-offending.

£4 including hot lunch (£2 for Conference only)

13 March 2003 "How to get a ‘free’ Community Youth Worker"

Resourcing Youth Work:

  • Partnerships?
  • Local Authorities?
  • Funding?

This BCAN Lunch focuses on productive ways of organising and funding work with Young People. Our two main speakers are Rob Graham and Andy O'Kane from two projects in Nailsea. Rob has developed an ecumenical youth project partnership which about the start. Andy manages the Methodist based open youth facility and has wide experience of engaging with local authorities and others.

23 January 2003 "Money Makes the World Go Round!"

Zena Butterfield, Centre Manager for Christians Against Poverty in Clevedon, provides practical and spiritual help for those in debt, tackling one of the root causes of much illness, unhappiness and family breakdown in the UK.
