Meetings

1 February 2007 "Engaging with the Mainstream"

Led by Jeff Russell of Poole Faithworks.

Note the venue: Woodlands Christian Centre, Belgrave Rd, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 2AA

Jeff Russell is an unusual man: he straddles the divide between church & local authorities. His main job is as a Social Services manager, but he also works for Faithworks Poole.

Jeff will share his experience of local authority relationships with helpful advice for us. He will use examples from the field of care for older people, in which churches run various services such as lunch clubs and will discuss Central Government's interest in "well being".

The lessons from such relationships are relevant to all areas where churches are trying to provide services and engage with local authorities.

3 May 2007 "Engaging with your Community through Family Ministry"

Led by Richard Hardy, Churches and Community Development Manager with Care for the Family.

Arranged by BCAN in association with the George Müller Foundation.

Time: 12:30 - 2:30 pm; venue: Woodlands Christian Centre, Belgrave Rd, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 2AA. On street parking is limited but there is a car park off Whiteladies Road near Sainsburys.

We all know that a gap has opened up between church and community. The question and challenge for all of us, including church leaders and community workers, is "How do we bridge the gap and make connections that will lead to community transformation?"

In this session Richard Hardy, Church and Community Development Manager for Care for the Family, and a church leader for over 25 years, will talk about why we should connect with community through family issues, and how we can take practical steps to see the needs of families met and their dreams realised.

Bring your own lunch; drinks are provided. For further information, telephone 0117 955 7430 or send us an email.

18 October 2007 "Community Care and Outreach"

Led by Malcolm Duncan from FaithWorks.

The next meeting will be co-sponsored by the Community Evangelism Team, Müller Church Partnerships, BCAN and Bristol EA as an inspiring morning conference with Malcolm Duncan from FaithWorks.

The time is 9:30 am - 2 pm. The venue is Woodlands Christian Centre, Belgrave Rd, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 2AA. On street parking is limited but there is a car park off Whiteladies Road near Sainsburys.

The meeting is open to anybody with a heart for community care and outreach, but you need to book in advance. The cost, including lunch, is £5 per person, payable on the day, but free to all Müller partnerships.

To book, please email julian@mullers.org.
